NHS Blood and Transplant

Hello all,

NHS Blood and Transplant will be at the CIPD Festival of Work 2025 with a special What’s Your Blood Type? event. Come along to our stall to take a quick and simple test to find out your blood type and learn how you can register as a plasma or blood

donor. Our friendly team will be on hand to answer questions and guide you through the process. Plasma donation is a growing need, and we are aiming to recruit new donors this year to support life-saving treatments. Plasma, which makes up about 55% of your blood, carries important components like platelets and antibodies that help fight infections. These antibodies are turned into medicines for people with rare diseases, immune disorders, and genetic conditions. By donating plasma, you can help individuals with conditions such as autoimmune diseases, weakened immune systems, and babies with heart issues, making a significant impact on their health and well-being.

To donate plasma, you need to be generally fit and well, weigh over 50 kg, be between 17 and 65 years old (or older if you’ve donated recently), and be able to travel to a plasma donor centre in Birmingham, Reading, or Twickenham. Even if you’re not eligible for plasma donation, we can still help you explore ways to becomea blood or platelet donor.

We warmly invite you to visit our stall, have a chat with our team, and find out more about how donation works and the incredible impact it can have. Whether you’re ready to register or just curious to learn, we’re here to answer your questions and guide you through the process.

Thank You.
