Dr. Ian Hesketh
Honorary Research Fellow
Dr Ian Hesketh is an Organisational Psychologist and works closely with the National Forum for Health and Wellbeing at Work as an Honorary Research Fellow at Alliance Manchester Business School. He was a UK Police Officer for 30 years. Ian was most notably the former lead for Police Wellbeing in the UK at the College of Policing and the Co-founder and Senior Responsible Owner (SRO) for the National Police Wellbeing Service.
He is an Honorary Fellow of Durham University Business School, an Honorary Researcher at Lancaster University and a Visiting Fellow at the Open University. He is a Chartered Manager, Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Member of the American Psychological Association, Member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and a Member of the Society for Education and Training.
Dr Hesketh has written and published over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles, numerous books and book chapters. His interdisciplinary research lies at the intersection of Organisational Behaviour, Human Resource Management. Leadership and Psychology, with a particular focus on Wellbeing in the workplace. Most notably he conceived, developed and introduced the concept and phenomenon of Leaveism, to explain behaviours associated with workplace workload and stress.
