Alexander Migale

Head of Organisational Development & Culture, British Film Institute

Alex Migale is an international award-winning people (HR) professional. He has been recognised as a Chartered Fellow (FCIPD) of the CIPD and is best known for his work in organisational culture change and dynamic learning programmes. Alex discovered his passion for delivering learning programmes that help people achieve their goals as a part-time swimming instructor whilst completing his university studies. He quickly recognised that the world of Biochemistry and Medical Research was not for him, so built his career in tech, media and eCommerce companies such as Apple Inc, Zendesk and Financial Times. He then cut his teeth in driving organisational development and culture change in his roles at Moonpig Group, where he was awarded the Brandon Hall Group’s 2023 Silver award for the culture change programme “Brave Conversations”, designed to help people develop essential life skills useful in both inside and outside the workplace.

Operationalising Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) has been a deep vein throughout Alex’s career, best demonstrated through his instrumental role in setting up the Mentor Black Business programme, which helped over 1500 UK black business owners thrive during the COVID-19 pandemic. He served as an Executive leader at Kick It Out, where he was able to deepen his impact by building the People (HR) & Culture function from the ground-up, as well as developing a scalable learning proposition to help the UK Football industry build more inclusive practices into the game. After this, Alex did a short stint at the Greater London Authority (GLA) as Head of People Business Partnering, helping to deliver organisational change and cultivate a people experience where employees can deliver their best work within a public sector organisation.

Now, Alex works as the Head of Organisational Development and Culture at the British Film

Institute (BFI), where he gets to leverage his curiosity, design thinking, research skills and

experience in delivering change programmes. His aim is to influence culture change, backed by the organisational development structures that enables people to deliver their best work in a space that speaks to their needs. Alex is also an Acting Chair on the Board of Trustees of a music charity that opens access for people from lower socio-economic backgrounds to play music in safe spaces and still finds time to work with the CIPD as an Associate Assessor.
