Lorna has worked in the Health & Social Care industry for 22 years in a range of roles. 5 years ago Lorna embraced a Training Manager role that allowed her to utilise all of the experience and knowledge gained to share best practice with team members and improve the overall compliance within brighterkind. This in turn then helps to improve the regulatory inspections that are carried out at our Homes and further helps us to deliver the best possible care.
As the National Training Manager Lorna oversees all statutory, mandatory training and apprenticeship opportunities within brighterkind. She has also been a key player in implementing a bespoke Care Home Practitioner Programme which has been recognised by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and has been offered to team members across the business. This has also given those team members a platform to further their career at brighterkind in management roles. During her five years Lorna has taken the business from a reliance on e-learning to a largely face-to-face approach, which after consultation was what the team felt was most beneficial to them. This approach has contributed to brighterkind receiving 2 awards including Learning & Development Team of the Year in 2019 at the CIPD People Management Awards.
