Joy is a Professor of Psychology and the Director of Research in the Department of Psychology at Goldsmiths, University of London; he also leads the Departmental Research Group, Cognition and Neuroscience.
Previously, he was affiliated with the Austrian Academy of Sciences, Max Planck Institute in Germany, and California Institute of Technology in the USA. He has co-authored over 120 research articles, 200 conference presentations, a dozen book chapters, and a research monograph.
He has a wide-ranging research interest in the broad field of cognitive neuroscience including music cognition, multisensory processing, brain networks, learning, and creativity. His research findings have attracted regular attention from worldwide media outlets (BBC, ITV, WSJ, Economist, ABC – Good Morning America, New Yorker etc). He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and Association for Psychological Science (USA).
