Dr Volker Patent
Dr Volker Patent is a Chartered Psychologist and Lecturer at The Open University (OU), specialising in business psychology and coaching. Volker has worked in higher education for over 25 years, in both teaching and researching roles. His research focuses on the topic of trust, particularly around HR and organisational decision-making.
Alongside academia, he coaches professionals and organisations to develop their thinking around these areas. Volker actively engages in transferring knowledge on behaviour change to local governance and community groups in the area of sustainability and climate change.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Volker has been leading the ‘Applying Psychology at Work’ and ‘Psychology Business Scope’ projects, he has written about the adherence to social distancing, the role of norms in retail behaviour and pandemic littering. He has also been involved in building community support structures in Bedfordshire working with other agencies to address COVID-19 impact.
