Biography

Patricia is Professor of Applied Neuroscience and a chartered psychologist with an active research and teaching interest in both theoretical neuroscience and the applications of neuroscience to real world challenges. She studied Physiological Sciences at University of Glasgow, and obtained a Masters degree in Quantitative Methods Applied to Physiology from Imperial College before going to University of Oxford to complete her doctorate studies.

Patricia contributes neuroscience modules to Masters programmes in Leadership, and Coaching and Behavioural Change at Henley Business School, and has worked on programmes with Business Schools nationally (Roffey Park, Edinburgh, Ashridge, Oxford Said) and internationally (Henley, SA, Massey, NZ). She also designs custom neuroscience training for organisations including Lloyds, HSBC, The Oxford Group, Gaia Insights, Elephants Don’t Forget, First Group, Dynamic Leaning, Cartier, the British Psychological Society, International Coaching Federation, and the Royal Navy.

Patricia has co-authored a book with colleagues from Henley Business School on the Neuroscience of Leadership Coaching (Bossons, Riddell and Sartain, 2015). This book uses case studies to demonstrate how a knowledge of neuroscience can increase both understanding of coaching and flexibility in the tools that coaches use. She has also contributed a chapter on Neuroscience of Coaching to the Handbook of Coaching Psychology (2018) and has written thought pieces and research articles on coaching and leadership. She supervises masters and doctoral projects in the areas of coaching, leadership, team performance, personal development and other areas of organizational management and leadership.

She is passionate about bringing the expanding knowledge about the brain and how it drives behaviour to people both within and beyond Universities. She has seen that the benefit that is to be had from leaders, coaches, trainers, and others being knowledgeable about the brain and enjoys creating custom-built, cutting-edge training workshops and events that integrate the most recent ideas in neuroscientific and psychological thinking to address business challenges.
