Gill is an experienced global talent consultant with a background in public relations counsel. She started her career with Unilever and, over six stretching years, gained business understanding and deep knowledge in integrated communications. She joined Hill + Knowlton (a leading PR firm) as a marketing specialist, and grew a series of new-to-market offers over then years with the firm.
Gradually, she became convinced that focusing on the talent side of the business was the direction she wanted to focus on. So, in 2005, Gill co-founded an executive search firm which enabled her to bring together a desire to help people build sustainable careers, with an extensive knowledge of communications and business. Over the next ten years, McKenzie Finn gained an enviable reputation for its rigorous and insightful approach to search mandates, while growing its portfolio of services to include training and coaching for high performers.
Wanting to broaden beyond a specialist niche, Gill re-joined WPP in 2014 working in global talent at the heart of the organisation. Acting as partners to leaders within the WPP network, the team is dedicated to identifying, tracking and retaining top talent across all marketing disciplines, worldwide, and to keeping ahead of talent trends and opportunities.
Gill also enjoys working with entry level ‘top talent’ via the Fellowship, WPP’s Graduate Programme; creating diverse leaders of the future in this dynamic specialism.
Gill has a particular interest in the advancement of female executives and helps to run WPP’s female leaders’ network, Stella. She continues to lead training and public speaking forums on the subject of talent attraction and retention, and is often asked to speak at, or chair, industry events.
For three years, Gill was a Trustee of a new, national health charity during a dynamic start-up period.
